March 2007

Hello, here is the latest from Steve Gray Renovations Inc.

It's time to change those clocks again.
Daylight Saving Time takes place this year on March 11th at 2:00am. Benjamin Franklin came up with the idea of Daylight Saving Time in 1784. Click here to read more about the history of Daylight Saving Time.

The Sycamore Springs Project Video Series
The next video in this series will be out soon. If you missed the first two installments, tune in to see the crew carefully begin demolition and rough in the new inner workings of the house. Click here to see the videos.

Daylight Saving Time: While running around the house changing the clocks, check your smoke alarms as well. Some smoke detectors are wired with security systems and may not need anything, but for those that aren’t, replace the batteries. 90% of homes are estimated to have smoke alarms – 30% are estimated to have dead or missing batteries. Carbon monoxide detectors should also be checked if you have them. Carbon monoxide is a tasteless, odorless, colorless toxic gas and can be deadly. Most detectors are placed near the furnace. As homes become older, this becomes more of an issue with having older furnaces and water heaters. Contact us if you are interested in having a Carbon monoxide detector installed.

Going on Vacation This Month?: Many people go out of town for Spring Break. Here are links to make it easier for you to have the Post Office hold your mail while you’re away, and for the Indianapolis Star to temporarily stop your newspaper.

If you are going to be out of town, it is always recommended to have someone look after your house for you. Some crime prevention programs suggest NOT having your normal deliveries put on hold, but everyone agrees that having someone look after your home is an important thing to do.
