 Carmel Trifecta
The Carmel Trifecta renovation is done. This three-fold project included exterior updates, a home gym and a custom kitchen, which is now decorated and in use. The kitchen’s centerpiece—a custom designed and fabricated island top. We are thrilled with the final kitchen and invite you to take a peek inside. Hear from Steve and the homeowner along with the owner of the company that went to great lengths to make the island a one-of-a-kind centerpiece. Click here to watch the video.
Marble and granite take any kitchen or bathroom to the next level—polished and sophisticated. Taking care of that investment is something our partner Tremain Tile, Marble and Granite helps homeowners understand. Owner Jesse Tremain has great tips and suggestions for homeowners to keep their marble and granite looking like new.
Plan ahead
Look at stone selections early in the process and ask about long-term wear, tear and care. Options are endless. Having a designer help you narrow down the choices helps avoid confusion. We never say no to a new idea. Just ask.
Follow care instructions
Natural marble tops are stain proof and resistant with regular care. Clean up spills right away and always use coasters and placemats to avoid stains or scratches. Likewise, use trivets under hot dishes. Cooking oils tend to cause stains the most often, so clean up oils right away. Do not use regular household cleaners with bleach or abrasives on the counter surface. We recommend Ivory dish soap with hot water to clean surfaces. If you have natural granite you do not need trivets or coasters because it is the next hardest surface to diamonds. Natural granite also can take heat, so toss out those trivets.
Refinish the surface as needed
Counters are sealed when they are installed. There is an easy test to figure out when tops need resealed after years of use. Sprinkle water onto the surface. Does it bead and ball up or does it absorb into the surface? If it dissipates into the surface, it is time to invest in resealing.
