Looking for great ideas to update or remodel your kitchen? SGR Partner Ferguson has a brand new showroom in Carmel (it’s cool, check it out) and our clients have the pleasure of working with Diana Dinges, who is a Ferguson design expert (and just an awesome person to hang out with!). Diana knows her stuff about the latest trends, ideas and values in kitchen products, including sinks, fixtures, hardware, lighting and appliances. We asked for her insights on kitchen renovations and updates. She says, “The kitchen is a great place to invest in a home. First it’s the heart of the house, so I encourage homeowners to create an area they enjoy. Second, a homeowner always gets a great return on kitchen investments—large or small.” She shares these tips and ideas for kitchen updates.

Color is the new black
More and more homeowners are moving away from selecting neutral colors and instead add color to the kitchen. Viking is now manufacturing appliances in 20 different hues—red, blue, yellow and more. If color sounds like a great update idea, think backsplashes and sinks, too.

Make it personal
Making your kitchen personal does not always mean a large renovation. More homeowners are planning on staying put these days and looking for easy updates. New cabinet and drawer handles change the overall kitchen landscape. Lighting is “jewelry for your kitchen”—dress-up fixtures or dress them down depending on the mood and style. Backsplashes add color and visual appeal, but also add function. A new sink or faucet spruces up the space without big bucks behind the investment.

Traditional is here to stay
While pops of color are great, kitchen elements such as granite and stainless steel appliances are still in style. A homeowner cannot go wrong making these investments in a kitchen update.

Recently in the news… The SGR Grow the Bungalow project was featured in the Indianapolis Star. Take a peek at the story by TJ Banes. Some great photography of the final project!

The Indianapolis Business Journal featured SGR clients Mike and Sally Kerr in the At Home Quarterly. The Kerrs and their Woodland Country Club home glammed the cover of the special IBJ section in late June with some great coverage on how the historic golf club house was turned into a home. Again, some great photography and a nice story by Bonnie Maurer.
