Kitchen Renovation
The homeowner moved from a larger home to a smaller one. We started with a galley kitchen that had minimal storage. Rooms were very compartmentalized and every room was walled off. The owner wanted to entertain and bring in the family as they liked to do a lot of cooking. They wanted an open kitchen with seating for eight or more and a hearth room for the overflow of people while entertaining.
Aims/Objectives
1. Seating for 8 or more people
2. Gourmet Kitchen
3. Storage, storage, storage
4. An open area to the Hearth/Great Room
How Did We Do It?
We took the owners ideas to a draftsman. We came up with a few different layouts, then working with the owner, combined them to a layout that provided everything they wanted.
What Did We Achieve?
We provided exactly what the owner wanted. We took a small galley kitchen, moved walls, reconfigured space, and gave the owner a large kitchen with 3 times the cabinet storage, as well as a walk-in pantry. We built in a seating area for 8 or more people, as well as opened the kitchen area to the adjoining room to give it an inclusive feel. The owner selected the cabinets, countertops, flooring and appliances. The end result: A Gourmet Kitchen.

Master Bedroom
We met with the owner of an older home. The Master Bedroom was good sized, but the bath and closet area were in need of a better layout and more space. The existing bedroom had a long hallway leading to it, which was a lot of wasted space. The owner also wanted 2 vanities in the bath, instead of the current single vanity.
Aims/Objectives
1. Make bedroom look larger
2. Install split vanities in bath
3. Install new ceramic shower
4. Reconfigure space in bath, closet and hallway to master bedroom
How Did We Do It?
The owners gave us a good idea of what they wanted to for the area. We went to a draftsman and came up with a design that the owners liked.
What Did We Achieve?
The long hallway to the Master Bedroom was reconfigured and the extra space was given to the master closet and bathroom areas. The Master Bedroom was large in size, so what we did was relocate the door to the bathroom and installed a tray ceiling, raising the height of the ceiling to 9’6” from 8’. This made the bedroom “feel” even larger. The extra space we gained from the old hallway was added to the newly configured walk-in closet. We chose to use the existing closet for the bath and we were able to install a larger ceramic shower with a seat. Two large vanities were added on different walls, allowing 2 persons to easily move within this area. These new areas give the feel of a brand new home.

Locker Closet
The homeowners wanted to clean up the entry closet area. Shoes, jackets and backpacks were overtaking the area. They wanted to redo the existing closet area to meet the needs of a family of four.
Aims/Objectives
1. A place to put shoes
2. A place to hang jackets/coats
3. A place for backpacks and purses
4. Storage for coats during off season
5. Storage for gloves, hats, scarves
6. Extra storage
How Did We Do It?
The homeowners had a locker system in mind. We tweaked it to include a full-size closet that accommodates hanging items, but also includes removable shelves, thus giving a convenient space to hold scarves, gloves and hats in the winter and coats. Cabinets above give storage room. The seats individually lift up to reveal a shoe storage area for each locker.
What Did We Achieve?
This locker system met the needs of the homeowner by giving each member of the family their own space to put their items, as well as additional storage. This built-in system also gives the entry area a more open feel, as well as a very nice look. |
